In view of the problem that the existing ship tonnage measurement units can not accurately reflect the shipbuilding output and capacity, the calculation mechanism of ship compensated gross tonnage is analyzed. On the basis of the selection of reference ship, a massbased calculation method is proposed, and its mechanism is analyzed.
