In order to meet the severe challenges from the development stagnation of world economy and demand insufficiency of shipbuilding and offshore engineering market that the global shipbuilding industry faces, the shipbuilding enterprises gap between China and the world-class Republic of Korean is comprehensively benchmarked. Through a comparison of three major shipbuilding indicators between China and Republic of Korea in 2020 and a comparison of actual working hours and key cycle data of main ship form construction, the key problems of refinement, standardization, and mechanism mode in design, production, and management between the shipbuilding enterprises in the two countries are benchmarked to find out the causes and propose suggestions to solve the problems. Chinese shipbuilding industry should actively conduct the normalized and refined benchmarking work, accurately study and judge the new opportunities and challenges brought by the new development pattern, define the main attack direction, focus on the key links, and identify the focal points and breakthrough points to integrate into the new development pattern.
